The doctoral degree is granted upon the fruition and the effective barrier of a theory arranged by the doctoral competitor under the supervision of a mentor. The postulation must be inspected by a leading group of five educators, holders of the title of specialist or of a livre docência. Two of the individuals from the board must be educators from another foundation. In most Brazilian Law Schools, the competitors are additionally required to win a base number of credits.
